Worker's compensation is a form of insurance provided by companies to protect employees. Injured workers may file claims against employers to receive both medical benefits and wage replacement during recovery. In some circumstances, employees may be entitled to additional compensation for permanent impairment resulting from their injuries. These matters are heard before the Worker's Compensation Board of Indiana. I have represented numerous companies before the Indiana Board on claims filed by employees. I have also worked with clients to find appropriate TTD payments, obtain independent medical examinations, and work out final settlement agreements. Please contact me if you have received a worker's compensation claim from an employee.
Creditor's rights are the set of actions and procedural provisions that may be sought by a company or individual who is owed money. These suits are often referred to as collection actions. The specific procedures and remedies available to recover monies owed vary between different states and counties. Creditor's with valid judgments may seek remedies such as wage garnishments or liens against debtors. I have represented banks, individuals, and a variety of businesses to obtain judgments and recover money and assets. Please contact me if you have questions or issues with outstanding balances and unpaid debts for your business.
Issues often arise between property owners and tenants. States and counties set forth rules and guidelines governing agreements between landlords and tenants. Both sides should be aware of the applicable rules and responsibilities at the beginning and end of any lease or rental agreement. Landlords with issues regarding unpaid rent, damages, security deposits, or tenant evictions may contact us for assistance.
Dramshop claims typically involve accidents or injuries related to the consumption of alcohol. Dramshop insurance, regulations, and the handling of claims differ between states. Chicago and Northwest Indiana are home to numerous businesses and establishments that should be aware of dramshop issues. Please contact our office if your business needs help or assistance with liquor issues or the handling of a dramshop claim.
Premises Liability law concerns injuries and claims against property owners and those in possession of land. Many of these cases are called "slip and fall" claims against the owner of the premises. Laws concerning these claims will differ from state to state. If you need help or assistance in evaluating a claim, please contact our office.
The area of insurance defense covers a broad area of law. Generally, insurance defense concerns issues between insurers and policyholders. Disputes may arise regarding accidents, employment, and discrimination just to name a few. The claims filed by policyholders may be state or federal in nature. Please contact our office if you need assistance in defending an insurance claim in Indiana or Illinois.
